Karnataka High Court Bans Ola, Uber, Rapido And Other Bike Taxi Services

Karnataka Bike Taxi Ban:  The Karnataka High Court has put a ban on bike taxi services and apps in the state including Ola, Uber, and Rapido. The judgment has been ruled by Justice B. Shyam Prasad who rejected the petition seeking legal recognition of bike taxi services.

The court has said that bike taxis will remain nonoperational till the state government reforms the regulations under the Motor Vehicles Act,of  1988. Additionally, the court clarified that it cannot direct the government to create such rules or allow bike taxis to be registered as transport vehicles. Bike taxi services should cease to operate within the next six weeks as per the court orders.
