Life Certificate Scam

A major scam aimed at Digital Life Certificate submissions has developed, with scammers seeking to fool the elderly. Scammers may falsely claim to have access to personal information such as PPO numbers, Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account information, and then request OTPs to breach the accounts. The State Bank of India (SBI) has issued alerts about this vulnerability, advising pensioners not to share personal information or OTPs over the phone. Pensioners are encouraged to report scams at sancharthsarthi.gov.in or by calling 1930, and financial theft can be reported at cybercrime.gov.in. Remember that reputable pension officials will never ask for OTPs over the phone.
