Maha Kumbh 2025: Prayagraj Mahakumbh Expected to Generate Around Rs 2 Lakh Cr Revenue

Maha Kumbh 2025: The grand event of Mahakumbh has begun in Prayagraj, Sangam Nagari, drawing millions of devotees from all over the country to take part in this historic and spiritual festival that has been celebrated for thousands of years. The 45-day festival is expected to attract nearly 400 million visitors, more than the combined population of the United States and Russia. The state government has allocated Rs 7,000 crore to organize the event, which is estimated to create Rs 2 lakh crore in economic benefits.

Mahakumbh to Increase India’s Economy

According to reports, Mahakumbh has enormous economic potential, with an average expenditure of Rs 5,000 for each guest. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) expects food and beverage sales to generate Rs 20,000 crore, with transport services and related operations accounting for an extra Rs 10,000 crore. The festival's influence goes beyond nominal and actual GDP development, with an estimated revenue contribution of Rs 10,000 crore to local and interstate services. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, stated that the 2019 Ardh Kumbh in Prayagraj boosted the state's economy by Rs 1.2 lakh crore, with 240 million tourists in attendance.
