Maharashtra Politics: Rajan Salvi nominated by MVA for Maharashtra Assembly Speaker

The turmoil that took place in Maharashtra's politics is not taking its name to stop. This fight has now reached inside the assembly. Here now BJP and Shiv Sena are face to face for the election of Speaker of the House. Maha Vikas Aghadi has announced the name of its candidate for the post of Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Shiv Sena MLA Rajan Salvi has been fielded against BJP MLA Rahul Narvekar.

144 MLAs needed for majority

At present there are 287 MLAs in the Vidhan Sabha while the total number of Vidhan Sabha members is 288. According to these figures, 144 MLAs are needed for majority. At present, the BJP has 106 members in the Maharashtra Assembly, while the Shinde faction claims they have the support of 39 Shiv Sena MLAs. At the same time, Eknath Shinde also has the support of 11 other MLAs.

If all these figures are combined, then it becomes a total of 156 MLAs. At the same time, there are about 10 independents with the BJP, which takes the figure to 166. Whereas Raj Thackeray's party MNS has announced support to BJP in the Legislative Assembly. MNS has 1 MLA. That is, the number of support of the total MLAs with BJP is 167. With this, the Speaker of the BJP assembly will be easily elected.

Speaker elections on July 3

The election for this post will be held on July 3. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rahul Narvekar, who became an MLA for the first time, filed his nomination for the post on Friday. Narvekar represents the Colaba assembly constituency of Mumbai, while Salvi is an MLA from Rajapur constituency in Ratnagiri district.

The two-day special session of the Vidhan Sabha will be held on July 3 and 4. Voting for the post of president will be held on Sunday. Newly elected Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will move the confidence motion in the House on July 4. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is the Deputy Chief Minister in Shinde's cabinet.
