More than 947 Million Cyberattacks Stopped in India: Know All Details Here

In India, cyber attacks have reached epidemic proportions. According to the most recent figures, more than 947 million cyber attacks were blocked in India in the second quarter of 2023. In terms of the global scale, 1.1 billion cyberattacks were foiled. According to IndusFace, a Tata Capital-funded startup, this figure represents a 90 percent rise in the frequency of cyber attacks on Indian websites during Q2 compared to Q1, as reported by IANS.

Major targeted sectors

Banking, insurance, and healthcare were the most badly impacted areas, with bot attacks on every website in these industries. The majority of bot assaults climbed by 48 percent in Q2 (20 million attacks) compared to Q1 (2023), highlighting the pervasiveness of this danger. DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks have also surged considerably, with a 75% increase over the previous quarter globally. Furthermore, the research stated that the overall number of DDoS attacks worldwide reached 8,72,105,826, with bot attacks totaling 88,186,868, emphasizing the scope of the cyber threat landscape.

90% Increase in Attacks

According to the press, Indusface CEO Ashish Tandon believes India's tale is thrilling, and it appears that even the bad actors are aware of it. While we are seeing an increase in cyber-attacks globally, no other large location has had a 90 percent rise in attacks. "DDoS remains the most dangerous threat vector." Enterprises continue to prioritize application availability for real users while risking DDoS attacks due to the serious consequences of false positives. "This is because most DDoS mitigation methods do not adapt well enough, particularly when there are bursts in traffic on legitimate use cases like year-end tax return filing," Tandon explained.
