Mukesh Ambani’s business empire: Popular brands you did not realise were owned by the tycoon

Mukesh Ambani Birthday:  Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India and Asia turns 67 today. The managing director of the Reliance industries, with ventures in energy, petrochemicals, natural gas, retail, entertainment, telecommunications, mass media, and textiles fields under his flap is explicitly associated with names like ‘Jio’ and ‘Reliance Retail’ are some popular names like ‘Clovia’ and ‘Nickelodeon’ which you might not know are contributing to the immense empire of the business tycoon. Here are some popular brands and start-ups you did not know are under the radar of Mukesh Ambani.     

Forbes India

The Indian edition of Forbes is managed by Network 18. Network 18 in itself is an Indian media conglomerate owned by the head of Reliance Industries billionaire Mukesh Ambani. 

Hamleys 

The world’s oldest toy retailers also add up to the brand belonging to Ambani. In 2019, Reliance Retail, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries acquired the British toy retailer for a hefty amount of IND 620 crore. 

Clovia 

‘The fastest growing lingerie brand in India’ Clovia is also acquired by Reliance Retail, who bought a majority of 89 % equity stake in Purple Panda Fashions Private Limited strengthening their “portfolio in the innerwear segment” , said RIL. 

Nickelodeon

Popular cartoon channel, ‘Nickelodeon India’ is jointly owned by Paramount Global and Network 18/TV 18 which is headed by Mukesh Ambani. 

NetMeds 

RIL bought a majority stake of 60%  in NetMeds, an online pharmacy for a whopping INR 620 crores. In a statement on the same Isha Ambani said, “Netmeds enhances Reliance Retail's ability to provide good quality and affordable health care products and services, and also broadens its digital commerce proposition to include most daily essential needs of consumers.”

Dunzo  

An Indian food and package delivering company giving tough competition to names like Amazon in the market is owned by Reliance with an investment of INR 1490 crore lending them 25.8% ownership. 

Aesteria

Aesteria Aerospace is a leading drone manufacturer in India with 400+ drones deployed in the field based in Bengaluru.  Reliance has a 51.78% stake for INR 23.12 crore in the robotics and artificial intelligence business. 

Mukesh Ambani was born on 19 April in Aden present-day Yemen to Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani.
