Muslim Man Can Have Multiple Wives If He Treats Them Equally: Allahabad Court

New Delhi: A single bench of Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deswal has ruled that a Muslim man can have multiple wives if he treats them equally. In Allahabad, Justice Deswal underscored that polygamy is valid under the Muslim Law, but it is misused by men for selfish gains.
Her further elaborated that the marriage of the accused Fukran and his wife who has filed a chargesheet on him for deception and marital rape, has been married under the Muslim Marriage act that validates multiple wives.
Special, Hindu, Christian, or Parsi marriage acts prohibit polygamy, but the Quran allows it in exceptional circumstances.
