Netflix banned password sharing! Jagran Business

21 Jul, 2023

Netflix announced on Thursday that it had stopped exchanging passwords in India. Following the news, only one household member will have access to one account. The decision is part of a larger global strategy that began in May. Users sharing passwords with people outside their families was losing the company money as it attempted to increase revenue following a difficult year the previous year.

What is the cause for the change?

Netflix previously permitted account password sharing. However, due to increasing losses, the company has chosen to stop exchanging account passwords. Let us remind you that last year, the firm began testing the password-sharing crackdown. As a result, many users were dissatisfied. In 2023, it will be available in a number of other countries, including Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, and the United States.

Users must create a Netflix home, which is essentially the TV on which they watch Netflix the most. The business also stated that any devices that use the same internet connection as this TV will be included to the users' Netflix Household.
