New Parliament Building: On September 18, the first day of the special session of Parliament began at the previous Parliament House. The special session’s activities began on Tuesday at the new Parliament House. The Lok Sabha session began at 11 a.m. on Monday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address. During this time, there were discussions about Parliament’s 75th anniversary. During this period, several opposition figures voiced their opinions and targeted the central government. The Union Cabinet meeting was also held during the Parliament session.

 

Details About the New Parliament Building

In many aspects, the new Parliament is different from the previous one. Tata Projects Limited constructed the new Parliament Building. This four-story triangular structure is spread over 64,000 square meter and contains a stately Constitution Hall, a lounge for members, a library, various committee rooms, a café, a dining area, and spacious parking. Gujarat-based HCP designed it. According to sources, the new building cost roughly Rs 1,200 crore to build. The new building’s Lok Sabha chamber can hold 888 members, and the Rajya Sabha chamber can accommodate 384 members.
