Nirav Modi Extradition: Nirav Modi's application rejected by London High Court, to be brought soon India

The way has been cleared to bring Nirav Modi to India. The court has rejected the application of the diamond trader. The High Court has ordered his extradition to India to face charges of fraud and money laundering. Indian agencies had filed applications at the government and legal level to bring him back. In these it was said that Nirav has fraud with India's banking system, so he should be handed over to Indian agencies for legal process.

2 Billion dollar fraud case

The London High Court on Wednesday ordered the extradition of diamond merchant Nirav Modi to India, hearing an appeal filed by Nirav's behalf earlier this year by Justice Jeremy Stuart Smith and Justice Robert J. Nirav is facing charges of fraud and money laundering in the PNB loan scam case in India. He is accused of defrauding the bank of $2 billion. 51-year-old Nirav Modi is currently lodged in Wandsworth Jail in south-east London. In February 2022, Nirav Modi had moved the High Court there against the order of the District Court of London to be extradited to India.

Nirav’s petition

Nirav had said in the petition – the condition of jails in India is very bad and there may also be a threat to his life. In response, Indian agencies gave detailed information to the London court and told that Nirav is only looking for a way to escape. The court has ordered to hand him over to India on this basis. The court said that the decision to hand over Nirav to India is neither unfair nor should it be taken as any pressure.
