Many people believe that people get more salary in metros. But, the figures of Average Salary Survey tell a different story. The survey shows that in terms of annual average salary in India, Maharashtra's Solapur has defeated metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. It has become the highest paying city in India on an average annually. The result of the salary survey is based on the data of thousands of workers from 138 countries of the world. In India, 11570 employees were included in the survey. It has also been revealed in the survey that women in India get less salary than men.

The annual average salary in Solapur is more than Rs 28,10,000 per annum. Mumbai is at number two. The annual average salary here was Rs 21.17 lakh. Bangalore is at the third place with an average salary of Rs 21.01 lakh and New Delhi is at the fourth place with an average salary of Rs 20.43 lakh per annum. Solapur is counted in Tier-2 cities.
