Nuclear Weapon Expense: Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukraine war, all countries have been spending a lot on nuclear power. In 2023, about $91 billion was collectively spent on nuclear power by all the countries, making it the most spent year so far. According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), in comparison to 2022, all countries have spent more than 13% on nuclear weapons in 2023.
America spent the most, about $51.5 billion on nuclear power in 2023. The country alone has spent more than the nuclear spending of all other countries. India’s neighbouring country China, spent the second most on nuclear power, about $11.8 billion in 2023, followed by Russia ($8.3 billion). According to ICAN, India has spent only $2.7 billion on nuclear weapons in 2023, while Pakistan has spent about $1 billion.
