How Dengue spreads

Aedes mosquitoes, which include Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti, are the drivers of dengue disease transmission. When a mosquito bites a person who has dengue in his or her blood, it contracts the disease. The Zika and chikungunya viruses are spread by mosquitoes of this type. Direct transmission of the dengue virus is impossible. Dengue fever can, however, spread to other mosquitoes by an infected human.

During the rainy season, from June to August, the dengue epidemic peaks. It is thought that the climate plays a significant role in the spread of dengue.
