If you are thinking that Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ is a masterpiece then let us stop you because it stands in a league of its own. And while IMAX continues basking over the success of the film starting from the very first day, here is how Nolan managed to truly hit a home run.
Oppenheimer might be capable of evoking the image of a thousand volcanoes, screenplay brilliance, no CGI mastermind and atomic destructions to leave us mind boggled but, Christopher Nolan's remarkable film goes beyond these luminous scenes, delving into the life of the man who played a pivotal role in creating the atomic bomb and struggled with the grave consequences for the rest of his life.
With Cilian Murphy in the lead role of ‘Father of the atomic bombs’ J. Robert Oppenheimer, we can finally see an Oscar win coming straight in his kitty. And while we cannot stop praising his dedication and ‘Just perfection’ portrayal of the character, other cast members like Robert Downey Jr. and Florence Pugh delivered their finest Yes.
What Worked for Oppenheimer: Oppenheimer's cinematic journey delves into both the intimate and professional moments of his life, from bomb's creation, to security clearance that shadowed him, and the anti-Communist onslaughts shattering him. Interwoven bonds of friendship and love, though they also brought their own share of troubles. And while Nolan traces the history, he consciously omits any documentary footage depicting the dead or cities reduced to ashes, a deliberate ethical stance he embraces.
What Didn’t Work for the film: The only thing we thought was a problem, which exactly is not if you are a fan of history and science, was a 3 hour long running. Apart from that the film’s limited portion to the IMAX was also hailed as a lot expensive.
Once again, Christopher Nolan showcases his magnificent aura in cinema with a masterpiece, this time featuring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the lead role. The film delves into the life of the man behind the creation of atomic bombs, which tragically affected Japan's Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It chronicles the events leading up to and following the world's first nuclear test, code-named 'Trinity,'.
