PM Modi Hosts Putin, Trudeau, And Others At The G20 Summit: India Hosts Virtual G20 Summit

PM Modi chairs the G20 Summit:  India has set the stage to hold an annual global summit organized with a rotating presidency, the G20 Summit. This year the summit is being held in India, with PM Narendra Modi chairing as the host to a global gathering of G20 leaders.

The virtual event will be attended by Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister, and China’s Li Qiang.   

9 Guest Countries & 11 Organisation participates 

The virtual gathering will be attended by nine guest countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. The summit is followed by India’s successful G20 presidency underscored by significant achievements. 

Key Highlights of the Summit 

  • A consensus on tripling global renewal energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030. 
  • Joint statement on renewable energy, underlining 5 large Carbon Capture Uses and Storage (CCUS)projects declared by the US and China. 
  •  Global initiative on digital health by India, with a commitment of USD 44 million 
  • The summit also developed a framework on the basis of G20 Principles and UNESCO’s ethical AI Guidelines to promote ethical AI practices.   
  • Techequity, a digital inclusion platform to address the gender divide in the field was launched to empower women as a mentorship platform by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

The country exhibited its achievements, and commitment to a sustainable, inclusive future ahead, in the significant event.
