Poshan Summit 2023: AAP Leader Atishi talks about Nutrition Policy, Intervention & Malnutrition Eradication

Poshan Summit 2023:  The Jagran Media Team recently organised a Poshan Health Summit with the theme of “Poshan: ELEVATING WELL-BEING & HOLISTIC HARMONY.” The event featured premier sessions with hundreds of nutrition, health, and holistic wellness professionals, enthusiasts, and seekers of well-being. The event was honoured by the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Education, Higher Education, Technical Training & Education, PWD, Power, Revenue, Planning, Finance, Women and Child Development, Art, Culture and Languages, Tourism and Public Relations, Vigilance and services, Government of NCT of Delhi Ms. Atishi, who shared her insights about malnutrition and nutrition policy of India. 

 

Malnutrition in India

According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), 194.4 million people in India (14.5% of the total population) are malnourished. According to the Global Hunger Index 2019, India ranks 102 out of 117 nations. Food security has been assessed and addressed by government, public health, and health system programs. However, these efforts often focus on getting enough calories rather than getting enough healthy, nutritional foods.
