Rahul Gandhi on Jallianwala Bagh Memorial revamp:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Jallianwala Bagh Renewed Memorial in Punjab to preserve history. Prime Minister Modi has said that past events teach us many lessons, and the step of Jallianwala Bagh renovation was taken to preserve the history, and remember the martyrs.

While the renovation of Jallianwala Bagh Monument was opposed by many. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also opposed the Jallianwala Bagh renovation by saying that more than 1 thousand people were killed in this Jallianwala Bagh massacre 102 years ago. Thousands of women and men were gunned down by the British during a peaceful protest. It is an insult to the martyrs that the Jallianwala Bagh Monument was renovated. I too am the son of a martyr. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "I will never tolerate this insult to the martyrs."
Those who didn’t struggle for freedom can’t understand those who did.
It must be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the renovated Jallianwala Bagh Memorial via video conference on Saturday. The Jallainwala Bagh Memorial was earlier a monument with historic walls and bullet marks. The historic well of Jallianwala Bagh was open in which people to escape the firing by Britishers, jumped.
The historic well has been put on a glass shield hockey display. Many statues of martyrs have been erected in the place where tourists visit. There are also statues of Gurunanak Dev, Sikh fighter Banda Singh Bahadur and Maharaja Ranjeet Singh.
