Kanpur Ram Navami Violence: There was a commotion in Kanpur on Sunday evening due to rumours of stone pelting during the Ram Navami procession. The police quickly took command and calmed down the people. The officials did a route march through the area. 

Police Denies Stone Pelting Rumours

The Ram Navami procession at Kanpur’s Chandrashekhar Haata was surrounded by controversy after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) made a shocking claim of stone pelting on the procession. At the same time, the police made it apparent that no incidents of stone pelting occurred. According to media accounts, Vishwa Hindu Parishad officials claim that as soon as the procession began, stone pelting started from several buildings’ roofs. The organization describes it as a pre-planned scheme.
