Ratan Tata Dies:  The Indian business tycoon known for his lively spirit, philanthropy, and vision passed away on 9 October in a Mumbai hospital at the age of 86. One of India’s most globally recognizable figures, Tata was the former chairman of the Tata Group, an Indian company with annual revenues in excess of $100bn.

A true leader, Tata promoted the involvement of young minds at senior positions in his firm, and believed that they had a lot to offer in learning. His visionary mindset became the foundation for him to take retirement from his chair, and use his business acumen to shape young business, and learn from young leaders.  

Tata has invested in more than fifty startups across and beyond the country. Tata made his first investment in Snapdeal in August 2014 with a reported state of 0.17 percent. Tata’s investment in Snapdeal marked his venture into the e-commerce industry and cushioned it from getting monopolized. 

Ratan Tata was on board Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications in 2015.
