Property Tax News: The government has given good news to the people living in the rural areas of Delhi. Residential areas falling under the rural jurisdiction of the MCD will not be required to pay property taxes, as announced by Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi. He declared that “Lal Dora” and extended “Lal Dora” properties in rural areas would not be subject to house tax collections by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). This decision was made following a panchayat comprising 360 Delhi villages to deal with the problem of property taxes levied in rural areas.
Mayor Shelly Oberoi stated that the commercial property tax in rural areas will remain unchanged. MCD has notified approximately 2,168 roads in rural areas of Delhi, and commercial properties located on these roads will be required to pay property tax. At the same time, officials stated that the MCD had decided that commercial tax would be imposed on 2,138 notified roads, however, no property tax would be imposed on any villager who operates on a small scale.
