Rocky Aur Rani Review: Finally, the wait is over. The most anticipated movie of this year, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has finally been released in theatres, and fans are already waiting in the queue to watch the entertainment-packed movie and Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh’s sizzling on-screen chemistry. With Karan Johar returning to the director chair after 7 years, fans are much more expectant and excited to see what KJo has brought this time with the multi-starrer melodrama. The movie has surely brought back the essence of the typical Bollywood movies, which were full of drama, romance, fights, and family issues, with the perfect on-time dialogue delivery and humour.
Although the film has all the qualities to pass the Bollywood test, there were some scenes that might make viewers cringe, or, if precisely said, the unnecessary portrayal of so many modern world things. The film revolves around two families, the Randhawas and the Chtterjees, that are very different in every aspect, be it culturally, their opinions, ideas, and much more. It is when Rocky (Ranveer) and Rani (Alia) fall in love with each other and make ends meet to make this impossible love story a tale to remember.
The plot centers around Rocky and Rani, whose love story begins when they try to reunite their respective grandparents Kanwal (Dharmendra) and Jamini (Shabana Azmi), who had an affair in their early days that ended due to their marital status. While the old-world romance is resurrecting, Rocky and Rani face challenges due to their disparate upbringings. To persuade their families, they decide to switch residences for three months and live with one other’s families, but soon discover that things are more difficult than they first thought. This follows with a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, struggles, insults, conflicts, self-realisation, and regrets.
The film, released on 28 July in theatres, is overall a fun entertainer with lots of issues that have been raised in the modern world but left at a very crucial point. The contexts seem to be left in the middle of the conversations, but the modern issues of marriage and family relations have been perfectly portrayed by Karan Johar. The first half of the movie takes some time to build up, and it moves a little slowly, but the second half picks up speed and becomes quite interesting. Family disputes usually end in predictable and easy resolutions. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, with its dazzling and feisty personalities presented to us in well-wrapped sparkling packaging, is fundamentally an amusing and charming love story.
