31 May, 2025

Rule Change June 2025: Several legislative and financial reforms are planned to take effect across the country on June 1, 2025, with a direct impact on consumers. One of the most noticeable changes is the probable increase in the price of home LPG cylinders by Rs. 10 to Rs. 50, following a Rs. 17 fall in commercial cylinder pricing earlier. Additionally, numerous credit card rules are being updated. For example, Kotak Mahindra Bank has cut the amount of reward points for its Royal Signature Credit Card from Rs. 25 to Rs. 20, and auto-debited payments that fail will incur a 2% penalty. Utility bills and foreign payments may potentially incur additional fees. Furthermore, the EPFO is preparing to release an improved version, EPFO 3.0, which would streamline duties such as PF withdrawal, data updates, and claims processing, potentially permitting withdrawals via ATMs.

New Rules From June 2025

Other important changes include the implementation of ATM withdrawal fees after three free transactions per month, with consumers charged up to Rs. 25 for each extra transaction.  Aadhaar card updates will be free till June 14, 2025, after which a Rs. 50 cost will apply. A key RBI meeting is slated for June 6, during which a potential repo rate cut could influence FD interest rates, after earlier reductions by private banks such as HDFC, ICICI, and AXIS. Deadlines for filing GST returns and submitting TDS may also change, so users should stay up to date by visiting the relevant portals. Furthermore, new driving licence restrictions will be implemented to reduce fines, including speed limits and helmet requirements. June 2025 will also have 13 bank holidays, including a national closure on June 1 due to Sunday.
