Ruturaj Gaikwad: Ruturaj Gaikwad is an Indian opening batsman playing for Maharashtra's team in domestic cricket and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He held the reins for the captaincy of the Indian team at the Asian Games 2022, where the squad won gold. Gaikwad has been announced as the captain of Chennai Super Kings replacing the veteran cricketer and former captain of CSK, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Ruturaj was born on 31 January 1997, to Dasharath Gaikwad, a DRDO employee, and Sawita Gaikwad, a teacher. Hailing from Pune, Maharashtra, grew up speaking Marathi and went to St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School in Pune for his primary education. Later on, he went to pursue a vocational course in Polytechnic from Marathvada Mitra Mandal. Ruturaj married Utkarsha Pawar in a dreamy wedding on 3 June 2023.

He started pursuing his interest at the young age of 13 when he joined Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) Varroc Dilip Vengsarkar Academy in Pune. Gaikwad gave a display of his innate talent and prowess on the cricket field as he won the man of the match in Cadence trophy in 2010.
Ruturaj started playing for Maharashtra in 2016-17 Ranji Trophy in 2016, followed by a debut in T20 for Maharashtra in 2017. In the 2017-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he soared with his List A debut for Maharashtra in 2017. He was a part of India A, India B, India Blue, Maharashtra, and India U-23.

In 2021, he took the place of captain of Maharashtra for the Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he emerged as one of the top scorers as well. Gaikwad gave competition to Virat Kohli at the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy by standing equal in scoring a maximum hundred in a single Hazare tournament with four hundred to his credit.
Taking his excellence to international grounds he made his T20 debut on 28 July 2021 against Sri Lanka at Colombo. In the following year, he made his ODI debut on 6 October 2022 against South Africa at Lucknow. He was the captain of the Indian gold-winning squad at the Asian Games 2022.
Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad has replaced ‘Thala’ of CSK, MS Dhoni from the post of captaincy. As he shoulders the responsibility of CSK as the new captain all eyes are on him eager to watch his strategic play at the IPL 2024.
Gaikwad was welcomed in CSK after player auction for the 2019 IPL.
