Entertainment: The first poster of Rishab Shetty’s highly anticipated period drama film ‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ was unveiled on 19 February, Wednesday on the occasion of the 395th birth anniversary of the Maratha emperor.
The poster was released on X with a caption saying, “Jai Bhavani! Jai Shivaji! Har Har Mahadev!!”
‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ is a historical biopic film starring the National Awards Winning actor Rishab Shetty in the titular role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who is remembered for his valor, bravery, and relentless pursuit of ‘Swaraj’. He is renowned for his cut-throat competition with the Mughal empire. Under the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha Empire never succumbed to the rule of the Mughals and gave them firm competition on the battleground.

In an interview with the Times of India, Rishab Shetty opened up about his role expressing his fascination with the persona of Shivaji Maharaj, and called this opportunity to play him on screen an “honor”.
Speaking to TOI, Shetty said, “Shivaji’s life and legacy have always fascinated me, and there is a deep sense of pride in being associated with such a great historical figure. Opportunities like biopics come only once in a lifetime. As an actor and a performer, I feel that it’s an honor to bring his story to life on the big screen.”
The biopic is set to release on 21 January 2027. It is hailed as one of the grandest productions to portray the life of Shivaji Maharaj on a spectacular scale to a global audience.
The film is backed by Sandeep Singh known for projects like Sarbjit and Main Atal Hoon.
The Kantara actor has multiple projects in his pipeline including Prashanth Varma's film 'Jai Hanuman’, a sequel to ‘HanuMan’ and ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, a sequel to the blockbuster film ‘Kantara’.
