Summer Care Tips: Dietary demands change dramatically as the weather changes, and addressing this transition is critical for general well-being. On today's health podcast, we're joined by Payal Rangar, a licensed nutritionist and health diet specialist who offers practical food advice for both children and working people, especially during the summer months when maintaining a healthy habit can be difficult. Payal emphasises that youngsters should consume at least two servings of fruits every day. As many youngsters don’t like to consume fruits like pomegranate or watermelon, she suggests making homemade sorbets or popsicles with no added sugar.
Payal recommends that individuals, particularly working professionals and the elderly, have three to four servings of fruits and include easy-to-digest meals like as khichdi, warm soups, or mashed fruits in their diet. These meals aid digestion, which can become slow in the summer owing to reduced physical activity. While digestion does not deteriorate in the summer, reduced movement can have an impact on overall metabolism. Payal suggests taking advantage of milder hours—early morning or late evening—for light physical activity, such as walking barefoot on grass or attending a workout class. Even 10-15 minutes of daily movement at home, such as easy workouts or dance routines, can help fight lethargy and keep energy levels up in the heat.
