Summer Skincare: Summer is the time for the beaches, swimming pool, and being out and about in the sun. But with the current state of rising temperatures and heat wave warnings, the fun of summer seems to be short-lived. The hot and humid weather affects the skin adversely too resulting in heat burns, rashes, and inflammation.

While controlling the sun is beyond one’s immediate control, we sure can address the adversities it brings to our skin. An easy and effective way to fight the redness and inflammation of the face is cooling face masks that you can make at home with easily available ingredients. Keep reading to get the recipes and benefits of 5 cooling DIY face masks for inflammation.

DIY Face Mask For Summer  

Using natural ingredients for the DIY masks makes it easier and more effective with the least threat of side effects, however,r a patch test is still advised for all the masks that we discuss below: 

Cucumber+Aloe Vera 

In a blender add half a cucumber with two tablespoons of aloe vera gel to blend a slimy paste. Apply the mask on your face for 15 minutes and rinse off with tap water. With the cooling properties of cucumber, this mask is anti-inflammatory and hydrates the skin. 

Green Tea+Honey 

Brew one tablespoon of green tea and let it cool down to room temperature. Now mix 1 tablespoon of honey with one tablespoon of cooled and brewed green tea to make a mask and apply on the face for 15 to 20 minutes. You can also adjust the quantity of the ingredients if you want to spray the mask on your face. 

Green tea is known to treat the redness on the face while the anti-bacterial honey heals the skin. 

Sandalwood+Rose Water

You can either get a packaged sandalwood powder for this mask or powder a sandalwood stick at home. Mix two tablespoons of sandalwood powder with two tablespoons of rose water to form a runny paste. Apply it on the face for 15 minutes and rinse with tap water. The combination of sandalwood and rose water will calm the irritated skin.

Papaya+Honey 

Mash two to three cubes of papaya with one tablespoon of honey to make a thick paste. Apply it evenly on the face for 15 minutes before rinsing with regular water. The enzymes in papaya will help in reducing the puffiness on the face while honey’s repairing properties will calm the skin. 

Mint+Cucumber 

Muddle a few mint leaves and add half a blended cucumber in it to form the mask. Apply it on the face with a brush and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water followed by a moisturizer. 

This is the ultimatum cooling combination for irritated skin.
