Things which are Big No-No for Acne-Prone Skin

14 Jun, 2022

You may believe you are doing everything possible to treat your acne. However, small things can add up to make things worse. From touching your face to not using moisturiser, here are some habits to avoid if you have acne-prone skin.

Don't pop pimples

It may be tempting, but popping or squeezing a pimple will not necessarily solve the problem. Squeezing may push bacteria and pus deeper into the skin, resulting in increased swelling and redness. Squeezing can also cause scabs and leave you with permanent pits or scars.

Avoid Heavy Makeup

Heavy and greasy cosmetics have been shown to clog pores and promote acne formation. To avoid this, it is best to avoid oil or wax-based makeup products and replace them with lighter alternatives. Water-based products are known to be more easily absorbed by your skin and to prevent sebum blockage.

Avoid Excess Exfoliation

After exfoliating, you should moisturise your acne-prone skin. Exfoliating can be extremely drying to your skin, which may cause it to produce excessive sebum to compensate.

Love Yourself

Acne affects many people's lives in ways other than their appearance. Acne can have a negative impact on one's emotional health. But you have to overcome it and love your body as it is.
