Train Prices: We often ignore the prices that we are paying while travelling by public transportation, which majorly comprises train and bus travel. While travelling on the train, many local vendors and shopkeepers often sell products worth more than the actual price of the item, luring customers to pay higher prices. Passengers are always in a hurry to buy something from the stations so as not to miss the train, and shopkeepers take this opportunity as an advantage and charge more money. It is illegal to sell any kind of goods for more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP), and you can complain about this to the Indian Railways.
The Indian Railways has established a helpline number 139 for passengers to call to resolve any issues. You can also download the “Rail Madad” app on your phone and file complaints. Register your complaint by calling this helpline number or in the app, and action will be taken within a few minutes. However, there are some things that you should always keep in mind while complaining. If possible, write down the name of the shopkeeper’s food stall, the name of the shopkeeper, the name of the station, the platform number, and the food stall number/name (if any).
