Twinkle Khanna: Definitely has funny bones with witty head

Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia’s daughter Twinkle Khanna turns 48 today. Born on 29 December 1973, Twinkle Khanna started off as an actor in Hindi films but she soon realised that she belongs elsewhere. She turned towards film production, working as an interior designer and started to write columns and capitalized her great sense of humor. Also known as mrs. funny bones is well known as an author and a former film actress. Her first nonfiction book MrsFunnyBones was published in 2015 which made a bestseller and listed Twinkle as highest selling woman writer of India in the year and she always prove that she deserves it, see how she makes us laugh out loud at times:

By asking for Roads as smooth as Cheeks

In her recent column with the title ‘A vaccine for stupidity, and other cheeky wishes’ she writes about the wish list she has for the season. Although she uses loads of sarcasm whie she writes down the wish list. She writes that instead of asking Santa, she is putting her faith in 33 million gods, out of whom one or two might listen to her wishes while all of them seemingly grant all the wishes of the Ambani family. She asks for ‘Roads as smooth as cheeks’, Reportedly Rajasthan minister recently got into controversies after promising to make the roads ‘as smooth as Katrina Kaif’s cheeks’ as well as Maharashtra minister Gulabarao Patil boasted the roads of his constituency to be as smooth as Hema Malini’s cheeks. Khanna writes that she has heard of neck to nec competitions but she calls this one ‘cheek to cheek’.

Adele's weight has notihing to do with her music

In another article, ‘Tip, tip and reaching the tipping point with Adele & Malala’ she talks about how did people receive Adele’s comeback after 6 years, she wittily mocks about how it was all about her losing weight and less about her musical album, she also comments on the fact how plumpy women associated themselves with her, they took her as a representative and felt disappointed on her losing weight. She also adds, “Women though live in a dichotomy where conditioning and aspirations come to a head repeatedly. I may tell you that Adele should not be defined by her weight or her weight loss, yet for the last 24 years, the weighing scale and I have had a daily conference where the numbers mock me and I get off and eat a cookie in despair.” So she basically comes up with the idea of self love and body positivity at the same time celebrating the personal growth of Adele in the fitness area, she also makes it clear that her comeback should have been more about her work and less about her weight.

Boycott the Boycott

The one titled as ‘Why everyone loves a boycott’ highlights the intolerant behaviour of people. She starts with describing a particular ad that endorsed a beauty product with the narrative of a lesbian couple celebrating Karwa Chauth, the festival meant for married couple, the ad was ultimately taken down the media. The writer uses subtle sarcasm and further enlists ‘everyone’ who got offended by the ad commercial. She puts conservatives, Liberals, Straights, LGBT community and many others in the list. Lastly she put herself in the list and with a hint of sarcasm she points out the fact the even after homosexuality being decremanialized and all the pride parades, our country still fail to recognise same sex marriages. She quotes, “I am deeply offended because everyone is more offended by two women celebrating Karwa Chauth than the fact that same-sex marriages are not recognised in our country. Now, that is something we should be offended by than an advertisement promising golden nikhar”. Definitely being the wittiest and funniest Mrs Funny Bones aka Twinkle Khanna communicates deep intellectual ideas in astonishingly funny manner.
