Unified Pension Scheme: Congress leader Raashid Alvi stated that the government is carrying out the work that it ought to have been carrying out sooner on the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). It has been the opinion of the entire opposition that the government should take a decision on pension issue. The government has separated it into two sections (NPS-UPS), and the 50% pension paid is also reduced.
The Congress leader said that the pensions for retired employees should be granted according to their wages as the individual has dedicated his professional life to serving the nation as a government employee. If an employee has worked for at least 25 years, he will get a pension of 50% of his basic pay for the last 12 months of his employment before to retirement under the Unified Pension Scheme. If the pensioner dies, his family will receive 60% of the pension he received up to the time of death.
