For one of the prestigious jobs in our country, one of the toughest exam known as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services is conducted. Many students in our country wish to become an IAS officer by appearing for the UPSC Civil Services exam, but while preparing for the IAS exam are usually misguided. The UPSC Civil Services exam in India is divided into 3 phases namely: UPSC Prelims exam, UPSC Main exam and the Personality Test or interview.
While preparing for the UPSC CSE exam, an average student usually focuses on preparing for the UPSC Prelims Exam first followed by the UPSC Mains Exam first and at the end prepares for the Personality Test because these exams are conducted in the same defined order. But, it should be noted that if any candidate happens to clear his/her UPSC Prelims and Main exams, and fails to pass the Personality test (which acceptably is considered the most difficult to crack among the 3 exams), then the labour and hard work put in by the candidate for the previous 2 exams goes in total vain. So, preparing for the Personality Test exam well is necessary in order to achieve the best in the UPSC Civil Service Exam.
The personality test is one of the important parts of the UPSC Civil Service exam as all candidates are judged on the grounds of their personal traits which they carry or the personality which they have, suits an IAS officer or not. So, being able to clear the exam after studying is a different thing but being able to become an IAS officer because of your personality really counts.
Some of the main attributes tested in the UPSC CSE Personality Test include the candidate’s confidence, honesty, intelligence, integrity, understanding of ground realities, and depth of understanding of various concepts.
Hence, students must consider preparing for UPSC Personality Test uprightly as it is the deciding stage of a student’s destiny of being selected as an IAS officer or not. Students should work on expanding their knowledge bank and concepts. This will surely help them qualify not only for the Personality test but also for the other stages of the UPSC Civil Services Exam.
Here’s to wishing all the students appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Exams good luck with their preparations.
