The Union Service Public Commission (UPSC) has decided to postpone the Civil Services Preliminary exam, which was scheduled to be conducted on 27th June 2021, considering the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India. The reports state that the exam has been postponed and now will be conducted on 10th October.
The notification issued by the UPSC stated that, “Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June 2021. Now, this examination will be held on 10th October 2021”.
The other exams postponed by the UPSC council include the exam for selection of enforcement officers in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, which was scheduled to be conducted on 9th May, was also postponed. The council issued a statement for the students which read “As and when dates are decided for the deferred Tests/Interviews, it will be ensured that candidates are given a notice of at least 15 days”.
It must be noted that the UPSC council has also postponed the registration process for the Combined Medical Services Exam, which was supposed to commence on 5th May.
