IAS Nidhi Siwach wanted to join Indian Air Force:

Nidhi hails from the Gurugram district of Haryana and lives there with her family. She completed her schooling at Gurgaon and went on to pursue mechanical engineering. IAS Nidhi Siwach used to dream of joining the Indian Air Force since her childhood. To fulfill this dream, Nidhi appeared for the AFCAT exam, i.e., Air Force Common Admission Test, but something else was written in her luck.

AFCAT interview, a turning point for Nidhi:

The AFCAT interview proved to be the turning point for Nidhi's career. A member of the interview board inspired Nidhi to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. During those days Nidhi used to work at a big company in Hyderabad. But she took the interview panelist's point seriously and decided to prepare for UPSC along with her job.

Nidhi failed the first two attempts:

When Nidhi gave her first attempt, only three months were left for the exam and she could not even finish the syllabus. During her second attempt also, Nidhi didn’t prepare well as during that time she was also doing a job and it was difficult for her to make time to study. This was also the time when her family members started pressurizing Nidhi for marriage. 

However, Nidhi was not ready to give up her dream midway and requested her father for one last chance. Her father gave Nidhi one last chance, but also kept the condition that she’ll have to get married if she fails this time. And after this, Nidhi made every effort to achieve her goal.

Nidhi didn’t step out of her room for 6 months:

Nidhi was very dedicated to her goal as she left her job for this last chance and shifted back home, she did not leave her house even for a day during her 6 months of preparation to avoid every type of distraction.
