Living in a Marwari orthodox joint family, Shweta learned at the age of 8 that only education could change her economic and social conditions. With parental support and hard work, Shweta cleared the UPSC Civil Services exam thrice in a row and became an IAS officer in 2015.

Shweta Agarwal secured AIR 19th in the 2015 UPSC Exam:

The success story of Shweta, who secured 19th rank in the 2015 UPSC exam, has a lot of struggles and challenges. Born in a Marwari family in the Hooghly district of West Bengal Shweta had a total of 28 people in her family and her father worked in a grocery store. By collecting money from somewhere, Shweta’s father got her education completed as managing school fees and expenses in her family was a tedious task back then.

Shweta is the first graduate of her family:

Shweta shares that she was taunted and discouraged from pursuing further education after her school. No one in his family had graduated before as Shweta was the first one who was determined to pursue further studies. After this Shweta took admission in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, and not only passed with good marks but also got her name among the top students of the college.

Shweta prepared for UPSC by quitting Delloite's job:

After leaving college, Shweta got a good job in Delloite but resigned from her job to fulfill her dream of becoming an officer. Shweta resigned from her job and took admission in a coaching class but she was not satisfied and then decided to return to her home to do self-study.

Shweta cleared the UPSC Civil Services exam in 2013 and 2014 too:

Shweta Agarwal gave her first attempt in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2011, but at that time she was not ready for the exam but her parents insisted, and she gave the exam. Shweta knew that she will not be able to pass the exam, but she also knows that the exam can be cracked after studying hard and with concentration. Shweta Agarwal took the UPSC exam with full preparation in 2013 and secured 497th rank for which, Shweta was selected for the IRS however, she was happy with her success, but not satisfied.

In the quest of becoming an IAS, Shweta Agarwal appeared for the UPSC exam again in 2014, and this time she was selected for the IPS with a rank of 141.

IAS Shweta Agarwal cracked UPSC CSE exam with 19th rank in 2015:

Shweta had accepted the post of IPS, but still had the dream of becoming an IAS. Shweta decided to give one last attempt in 2015 and this time became IAS by securing 19th rank and not only this, but Shweta Agarwal was also the West Bengal State Topper of 2015.
