Who is Mohsin Akhtar Mir? Urmila Matondkar’s Husband With Whom She Called It Quit After 8 Years of Marriage

Urmila Matondkar Divorce:  Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has allegedly filed for divorce after eight years of her marital life with her husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir. The two have not yet reacted to the rumors but reports suggest the report has been filed by Urmila singularly.

Distressed separation?

According to several sources, actress and politician Urmila Matondkar has decided to call it quits with her husband Mohsin. The two have been enjoying marital bliss for eight years and now for reasons unknown, they are separating. 

The sources further added that Urmila had singularly filed the divorce a few months ago in Bandra, Mumbai. Their marriage hit a rock some months back resulting in Urmila’s decision to separate reportedly. The two got married in March 2016 in a private ceremony away from the media light.

The wedding announcement met divided reactions where some were happy for her and others raised eyebrows at their different religions and the wide age gap of 10 years. Things escalated awfully due to Mir’s identity as a Kashmiri Muslim resulting in incessant trolling labeling him a “militant”. 

Who is Mohsin Akhtar Mir?

Hailing from Kashmir, Mohsin is a businessman and model. At the age of 21, he went to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting and modeling. He emerged as the second runner-up at the Mr India pageant in 2007 followed by his break into TV with a commercial alongside Preity Zinta. In 2009 he entered acting with his debut film ‘It's A Man's World’ and a small role in Zoya Akhtar’s directorial debut ‘Luck By Chance’.

Having a hard time in the competitive Bollywood industry, Mohsin took a step down and turned to his acumen for business. His meticulous business skills led to the birth of his Kashmiri embroidery business which also has associations with Manish Malhotra. 

For the universes, Manish Malhotra also played cupid of sorts for Urmila and Mohsin. The two first met at MM’s niece’s wedding in 2014.
