Weather Update:  Very heavy rainfall is awaited in as many as 16 states today. Karnataka is on a red alert for extremely heavy rain after a landslide in Wayanad yesterday claimed 116 lives. Check the state-wise weather report here.   

Red Alert in Karnataka 

The India Meteorological Department has warned of extremely heavy rainfall very likely in the South interior of Karnataka today. It is in the wake of an immense landslide in the hilly region of Wayanad because of the heavy precipitation on 30 July that took the lives of 116 people. 

An orange alert is in place in Kerala, for today. 

Delhi Weather Today 

The national capital has been experiencing very humid weather conditions with bouts of rain providing momentary relief only to turn the city into an evaporating hot pot. The weather department has warned of rain relief in Delhi and its surrounding areas with an orange alert in place. The maximum temperature today is expected around 35 degrees Celsius with the minimum dropping to 28 degrees Celsius today.

Orange Alert in several slates

An orange alert has been issued by the IMD for states across the country including Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on 31 July. 

Moreover, the latest weather bulletin has predicted very heavy rainfall very likely in Uttarakhand, Jammu Division, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, Odisha, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, and Mahe today and on 1 August with an orange alert. 

In the extended future weather prediction, an orange warning for isolated extremely heavy rainfall has been issued by the weather department for Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and Odisha on 1 August, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh till 3 August, and in Vidarbha on 2 August.
