Weather Update: Heavy rainfall in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh is impacting the water levels of the Yamuna River in Delhi. The increased water discharge from the Hathnikund Barrage has raised the water level in the Yamuna to the warning mark that is 204.13 meters.
A 24/7 flood control center has been established in Shashtri Nagar to manage potential flooding in the region. Moreover, relief teams with boats are deployed at 14 locations, and all departments are on high alert. The city is preparing itself to face flooding, especially in the low-lying areas with experts anticipating whether Yamuna’s water level will cross the previous warning levels.
