Weight Loss Tips: When does the question of weight loss come to mind? An instant solution appears to be cutting on carbohydrates from the diet. However, most people do not understand how cutting carbs during the weight loss journey can impact the body. Talking to Jagran, Dr. Manjhari Chandra enlightened me on tips for healthy weight loss.
Reducing the intake of carbs impacts the body in two ways, elaborated Dr Chandra. She highlighted that a macronutrient, carbohydrates breaks down into sugar or glucose in the blood and gets stored as fat. So when you cut the intake of carbs, you reduce the fat accumulation in your body.
Secondly, the body needs energy to perform various functions including the digestive system. The needed energy is usually driven by the sugar or the fats in the body. But with the lesser intake of carbs there are no sugars to help in producing energy, so the body starts using the reserved fat in the body to produce energy.
Hence avoiding fat accumulation and using the reserved fat to produce energy are the two ways in which cutting carbs helps the body. But the lack of carbs needs to be balanced with a nourishing and balanced diet.
