20 Sep, 2023

Women Health:  Regardless of socioeconomic background, nutrient deficiency in women affects millions of women and girls of all ages. It is a global public health issue. When a woman's body lacks some vital minerals including iron, iodine, vitamin A, and calcium, it appears to be affected by nutritional inadequacy. This condition can cause anemia, fatigue, underdevelopment, and poor cognitive development, among other health issues. In this video, our panel of experts talk about the required nutrients for women in this rapidly changing environment with challenges ahead.

Women Health Challenges

Women who lack certain nutrients may experience a variety of adverse effects on their health and well-being, including anemia, goitre, night blindness, osteoporosis, and other conditions. Some of the factors that affect a female body’s health include:

Diet

Many women do not consume a well-balanced diet that includes all of the nutrients they require. This might be due to a lack of availability of healthy food, cultural standards of what women can consume, or financial restraints.

Physiological factors

During specific life periods, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and menopause, women are more vulnerable to vitamin shortage due to the body’s need for increased nutritional requirements during these times to promote foetal growth, milk production, and bone health.

Health conditions

Malabsorption problems and chronic illnesses, for example, might raise the risk of nutritional deficiencies.
