One of the big problems which teens and even people in their  20’s face is acne and pimples. The small red bumps on the face not only affects the physical appearance but impacts the mental health too. Some individuals ignore while others get conscious about their looks. But why do these nasty red bumps filled with pus appear on skin? Why does it happen more in puberty or during periods and pregnancy? Well, here is the answer to all your questions. 


What is Acne?

As per the science, Acne is a skin condition when hair follicles plug the skin pores with oil, dead skin cells and dirt. The blocked pores can develop whiteheads, blackheads or pimples. 


Symptoms of Acne

The most common symptoms of Acne are-

  • Uninflamed blackheads

  • Pus-Filled Pimples

  • Large, red and tender bumps.


Difference between Acne and Pimples

While we think of both the issues similar, there is a difference between Pimples and Acne. In simple words we can put Pimples as the symptoms of Acne. To be more precise, the person who will have acne prone skin will have pimples as symptoms.  But not all people who have pimples have acne-prone skin.

Treatment of Acne

Acne often needs medical treatment. Though a person can take care of oily and acne prone skin by washing it and using suitable products for cleansing. It's better to consult a dermatologist to figure out which products will be more effective and suitable. 

The basic treatment which a dermatologist prescribes for acne includes, over-the-counter creams and cleanser, antibiotics medications, Anti-inflammatory, Vitamin A derivative, Antibiotics and Topical antiseptic. 

Doctors also suggest use of Benzoyl peroxide / Salicylic acid and Antibacterial soap to use for self care if prone to oily acne prone skin.
