Uniform Civil Code:  The efforts to implement the Uniform Civil Code have gained momentum. The 22nd Law Commission has initiated the process of engaging the public in consultations regarding the Uniform Civil Code. Religious institutions and individuals are encouraged to submit their suggestions by sending an email to the commission's official address, membersecretary-lci@gov.in. The commission may also extend invitations to these organizations or individuals to hold discussions and delve into the specifics of their suggestions. Following the Law Commission's call for suggestions on the Uniform Civil Code, the debate surrounding this issue has reignited. In light of this, the Dainik Jagran team approached BJP leader Sushil Modi to inquire about the government's stance and actions concerning the Uniform Civil Code.

What is Uniform Civil Code?

All people will be subject to the same set of civil laws under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), regardless of their geographic location or religious backgrounds. The UCC law asks for the creation of one legislation for India that would be applicable to all religious sects in regards to issues like marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption etc.
