Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani has donated Rs 315 crore. He has donated a major portion of his wealth to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. This is the biggest donation made by any alumnus to his institute or college. On completion of 50 years of passing out from IIT Bombay, he has announced a donation. He gave information about this by tweeting on social media.
Although this is not the first time, even before this he had donated 85 crores to IIT Bombay. That is, till now he has donated about Rs 400 crore to IIT Bombay. Significantly, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in the year 1973. Such a huge amount of donation will be used to boost the infrastructure of IIT Bombay, encourage research in emerging areas of engineering and technology, and develop a new ecosystem for tech startups.
After this donation, he wrote a post on social media. Wrote my heart's words regarding IIT in this post. He wrote that IIT-Bombay has been the cornerstone of my life. This institute has shaped my life and laid the foundation of my journey. This donation is more than just a financial contribution. This cooperation from my side is a tribute to this institution. The institute which has given me a lot. Not only me but will shape the coming generation.
