Why is the line drawn on a cheque?

According to the rules of the Reserve Bank, it is very important to draw a line on a cheque. Along with the line, you are also required to write Account Payee there or on the back of the cheque. Account Payee means that the amount of the check goes directly to the customer's account. There is no cash payment in such a cheque. The amount entered on the check will go directly to your account.
