World Cancer Day 2025 Theme

The theme for World Cancer Day 2025 is “United by Unique,” which promotes a people-centered approach to cancer treatment. It emphasizes that, while cancer affects millions around the world, each person’s experience is unique. The campaign contends personalized care that addresses each patient’s unique needs, ensuring that treatment is both effective and considerate. This three-year campaign, which runs from 2025 to 2027, advocates for a significant shift in cancer care and global health systems to a people-centered approach.

World Cancer Day History

World Cancer Day was founded in 2000, at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium in Paris, France. The gathering produced the Charter of Paris Against Cancer, which included commitments to enhance cancer research, treatment, and patient care. The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) organizes World Cancer Day each year to raise cancer awareness and encourage action.  

Since its inception, World Cancer Day has grown into a global movement, with governments, organizations, and individuals working together to promote efforts that lower cancer rates and improve patient care.

Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death, with millions of new cases diagnosed each year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer causes one in every six deaths worldwide. Despite advances in medical research, many people, particularly in low-income and developing countries, continue to lack access to appropriate cancer treatment and early detection services.
