World News: America has placed sanctions on 16 companies, including four Indian corporations, involved in Iran’s petrochemical and petroleum sectors in an effort to destabilize the country. These Indian companies include Austin Ship Management Private Limited, BSM Marine LLP, Cosmos Lines Inc., and Flux Maritime LLP, according to a statement released by the US Finance Department. This is a part of the US administration’s effort to further tighten sanctions on Iran.
According to the US State Department, these businesses are banned because of their commercial ties with Iran’s petrochemical and petroleum sectors. Additionally, the statement said that the network was attempting to use illegal shipping to sell many barrels of crude oil worth hundreds of millions of dollars. This measure is part of a pressure campaign against Iran that began during President Trump’s presidency, with the goal of economically weakening Iran’s terrorism through oil income.
