Dilli 6 11th Food Festival: Dive into the food experience from Ghalib’s Dilli to Lutyens New Delhi

Delhi is also known for its mouth drooling food and versatility in cousins. The capital city is heaven for all the food lovers and manages to surprise everyone with those amazing delicacies. Bringing forward the culinary heritage of Purani Dilli (Old Delhi) Edesia at Crowne Plaza is hosting the 11th edition of their signature food festival ‘Dilli 6’ from February 20 to March 6, 2021. 

This two-week festival is the perfect destination to calm down your hunger beast, taking all the foodies to the trail of Mughlai-Anglo food, starting from ‘Ghalib’s Dilli’ and ending all the way to ‘Lutyens New Delhi’. The experience covers all the significant eras from the history of the city ranging from ‘The Last Mughal Emperor’ and ‘The Emergence of British Raj’.(set between the years 1797 to 1931).

The festival is themed ‘From Ghalib’s Dilli to Lutyens New Delhi.' This food festival unveils the amazing stories of the food of Purani Dilli through the lens of historical events and mixed with Lutyens New Delhi. This festival highlights some of the famous places like ‘Dilli Junction’(1864) which offer a dine inside the train experience and ‘Namak Haram Ki Haveli’ which is themed after Bhawani Shankar Khatri who is said to have betrayed the Marathas by siding with the British giving a private dining experience. It also offers two unique dining experiences showcasing the culinary and cultural ‘jugalbandi’ of Ghalib’s Delhi and Lutyen’s New Delhi in the form of ‘Shayari Durbar’ and ‘Viceroy’s House’.  The ambience and food together take you back into the era.

The menu, a mix of the best street delicacies and Anglo-Indian specials, boasts of lip-smacking dishes like ‘chicken pakoda’, ‘kachori chaat’, fruit sandwich, ‘matar kulcha’, railway mutton curry, Calcutta devil egg, ‘daak bungalow mutton curry’ and country captain chicken.

Well, talking about the menu, this 2 weeks festival has everything to satisfy your taste buds. Staring with the immunity booster shots, the food festival offers the Dilli 6 delicacies like  Golguppas, Kuliya Chaat, Kachori Chaat, Bharwan Aloo Tikki Chaat, Mutton Burra, Matar Kulcha, Jalebi, Dahi Vada, Bread Pakora, Halwa Paratha, Kulfi Falooda, Faldari Kulfi, Ceylon Parantha, Seekh Kebab Roll, Chicken Pakoda,  Navratan Korma, Karachi Halwa, Kheer Gur Wali Semiya, Fruit Sandwich and lots of other yummy dishes. The place has also recreated the famous Paranthe wali Gali offering a unique variety of parathas. The place has also bought the iconic ‘Daulat ki Chaat’ with Galouti Kebabs, jalebis with Shahi Tukda.

The festival has perfectly blended all the flavours of Dilli 6 i.e Sweet, sour, hot and tangy. 

With all those flavours it's a vacation for the foodies. And while taking all the precautionary measures for Covid 19, organizers have made the place sanitized and safe from the ongoing pandemic situation. Visit this food heaven from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
