Aadhar Cards to be linked with Voter ID: Election Commission Asks UIDAI To Begin Technical Consultation Soon

Aadhar-Voter ID Link:  In a historic decision, the election commission of India has announced that all the Aadhar cards of the country’s citizens will be linked to their voter ID to ensure that the people enrolled in the voters list are of Indian nationality. 

The decision comes under light of the allegation posed by the opposition party calling out the irregularities of the electoral roll and identical numbers in EPICS.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar held a meeting on Tuesday in this regard where he asked the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to begin the technical consultation process soon. 

Shedding light on the decision that EC said, that Aadhaar does not prove one's citizenship and it only establishes the identity of a person therefore it is decided to link the elector photo identity card (EPIC) with Aadhaar.
