Scam Alert: ChatGPT Making Fake Aadhar and PAN Card, Know How to Keep Yourself Safe

Fake Aadhar Card: OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been in the headlines since the issue of privacy concerns, particularly regarding content and image generation. This AI’s ability to generate incredibly realistic and accurate information has significantly improved, making it easier to create forged documents. Cybercriminals have always found it difficult to forge government-issued identification cards, but GPT-4 has simplified the process significantly. Recently, several social media users discovered that they could simply make false documents by providing effective and precise recommendations. Some of these users have also shared created photos of such fraudulent documents on the microblogging site X.

How to Identify Fake Aadhar Card?

To spot a fake Aadhaar card, look at the passport-size photo first—AI-generated fakes frequently differ significantly. Next, compare the Hindi and English fonts; authentic and counterfeit cards may differ in typography, space, and style. Also, look at the card’s syntax—punctuation like colons, slashes, and commas can differ in fakes.  Most importantly, scan the QR code to ensure validity. You can also check the Aadhaar number on the official UIDAI or MyAadhaar websites. A fraudulent number will be denied, whilst a legitimate one will affirm successful verification.
