Aditi Saigal Biography: Playing the quirky, sassy Ethel Muggs in Zoya Akhtar’s most anticipated release The Archies, Aditi Saigal is set to amaze her audience with her debut performance as an actor. Performing for an audience is not new for her, as she has been treating music enthusiasts with covers and original music tracks for some years now.
Aditi Saigal was born in 1999 to ‘Papa Rock’ the legendary late Amit Saigal and Sehna Gamat, an actor and theater practitioner. Her father is credited for founding the first Rock magazine called the ‘Rock Street Journal.’ Saigal has been a famous name in the Indian Rock Music community, he passed away in January 2012.
Aditi pursued joint honors in creative writing and music from the esteemed Bangor University, Wales. Her skills as a musician were lauded by the School of Music by felicitated her with the Phillip Pascall Memorial Prize for Outstanding Overall Achievement. She also did a master’s in education and studied curriculum and policy at Glasgow University.
Aditi has a lot of feathers in her musician’s hat. Passionate for piano, Aditi started playing the instrument at the tender age of six and started writing her original compositions at age 12. Her music career started in her college days and she started with fellow artists of One World College of Music.
Her voice became a sensation with her song ‘Everybody Dances to Techno’ which went viral in 2017 garnering over 35,000 plays on YouTube.
In 2021, her debut EP ‘Khomotion’ featured the original writing that she penned in her last year at Bangor University. Some of her original tracks include Alaw, Asymmetrical, Reassure Me, Unwanted Opinions, Indigo, etc.
Zoya Akhtar gave some insights on why Aditi was the perfect choice for her character Ethel, and how she accentuated the character with her own quirky, and sassy traits. Talking to the Lifestyle magazine about Dot she said, “There was something very eccentrically charming about her, which we were looking for in Ethel.”
Creative, quirky Aditi Saigal, aka DOT- a stage name she picked ‘because “Dot’s never hurt anyone and they make it look so interesting” as her mother once told her. The world will witness her acting prowess tomorrow with The Archie’s OTT release on Netflix.
