New Delhi: India recently celebrated its 76th Republic Day, celebrating its legacy and honoring the Constitution of India, which makes it a sovereign democracy. Hours after the celebration a shocking incident from Amritsar, Punjab triggered an outage in people.
In a viral video from Heritage Street of Amritsar, a man climbed up the statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar after flower-hosting it and vandalizing it. The incident was kept on camera and soon circulated on the internet.
The accused has been identified as Akash Singh of Dharamkot in Moga district, who was in police custody soon after the incident. Police have said that Singh belongs to the Schedules Caste community, but his actions have been opposed by many members of the Dalit community.
